ACT Optical is a family owned Australian Optical practice committed to providing quality eye care services to our clients of Canberra, Queanbeyan and surrounding regions.
At ACT Optical we possess our own fully functioning surfacing laboratory; here we manufacture optical lenses from raw materials to the highest standards in aspheric forms. We are the only optical store in the ACT to own a surfacing laboratory. This allows us the right resources and capabilities to be specialists in high and unusual prescriptions and to offer same day service.
Our friendly team of optical dispensers and mechanics possess the expertise and experience to advise our clientele on the correct prescription lenses and frames to best suit your vision and lifestyle needs. Using the latest optical equipment our highly qualified and experienced optometrists offer comprehensive vision examinations for optical prescriptions and general eye health.
Our History
Built on a foundation of family pride and commitment to excellence, ACT Optical was founded by Nosrat Ahadizad in 1972 trading out of Mawson shops. Years later ACT Optical moved to Bonner house in Woden, formerly known as Adelaide house.
In 2001, ACT Optical moved to Kambah for residential trade. The ACT Optical Kambah branch closed in 2005 and in 2003 ACT Optical Queanbeyan opened to service the optometry needs of Queanbeyan and surrounding regions which has now been relocated to Gungahlin ACT.
Also located in the Tuggeranong Hyperdome, ACT Optical Tuggeranong was launched in 2006 to continue providing optometry services to Tuggeranong, Canberra and surrounding regions. In 2012 ACT Optical Tuggeranong relocated to the Homeworld Centre, Greenway to further cater for our growing clientele.
